Employment Policies and Procedures
Every business that employs staff needs to make sure they are legally compliant and have in place the correct documentation. You may already have certain documents in place, or have nothing and need advice on what is required.
Here at South Coast HR, we work with you to understand how your business works, drafting the right documents to reflect your culture and how you want things done.
We can conduct a full audit of your existing HR policies and procedures, providing an outcome report and advice, or simply start from scratch.
Examples of what we do:
Contracts of employment
All employees should be given a ‘written statement of terms and conditions’ within 8 weeks of them starting employment. Here at South Coast HR we can draft contracts for you, or review and update existing documentation you already have in place. All documents are tailored to your business – from simple casual to complex senior management contracts, we will advise and create the right documents for you.
A staff handbook should contain all the essential policies your business needs – including disciplinary, grievance, absence, holiday, flexible working, health & safety, maternity, paternity and equal opportunities. We will work with you to make sure the policies are relevant to your business. Drafting from new if you don’t have anything in place, or reviewing what you already have to make sure all documents are up to date.
Whether frequent short-term occurrences, or long term periods sickness absence can be disruptive to businesses. South Coast HR can advise employers on proactively managing absence, in a way that encourages and supports employees whilst reducing risk to the business.
South Coast HR can provide support to employers on managing disciplinary situations within their business. Whether you need confirmation that you’re on the right lines, or would like us to completely manage the situation for you. We are here every step of the way to ensure you tick all the right boxes and manage the situation in the most effective way for your business.
When an employee raises a grievance it can be a stressful process for all involved. We will advise on the process that should be followed, providing as much or as little support as you need – whether you need support at the meeting, help taking notes or just an ear to offload on – we are here to help.
Since June 2014 the law has dictated that all employees who meet the qualifying criteria will have the right to request flexible working. The team at South Coast HR can guide you through this process, assisting with letters and documents as well as provide support at any necessary meetings.
Maternity / paternity
When an employee announces they have a new arrival on the way, you will no doubt want to make sure that you are following the correct legislation and giving them all the entitlements they are due. We can help you calculate maternity, paternity and adoption leave dates, entitlement and pay. Alongside providing supporting letters and documents to make sure you have the right records. We are also on hand to advise on any tricky situations if or when they arise.
The redundancy process is unsettling for any business, we understand that as well as the legal requirements there is a ‘personal’ side to deal with when managing a redundancies. We are on hand to support your business as much or as little as you require, either with advice, documentation or just being there as a support to help you get through what can be a difficult time.
TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment)
TUPE is a complex piece of legislation and applies when part of a business transfers to another business, or a business is sold. Every situation is different, but South Coast HR supported by our expert legal advisers can guide you through the process.
Supplier and contractor agreements
Having suppliers and contractors support your business can be a great flexible resource – however, to protect your business we always recommend that businesses have an agreement in place with their contractors and freelancers to help prevent any misunderstandings. South Coast Human Resources can draft these documents for you to make sure you are covered.
Remuneration and bonuses
Knowing how to remunerate your employees can be tricky – are you aware of the going market rates? Whether you want to introduce performance or profit related bonuses if you are unsure of how to go about it we can help you. Both in identifying what to offer in terms of remuneration packages, and support you in implementing staff bonuses.
Employee benefits schemes
Childcare vouchers, gym membership, staff discount – the opportunities are endless. We can support you in designing employee benefit schemes that fit your business and are tailored to your staff.
